After 12 years of marriage, Anna and Gary wanted to upgrade Anna’s wedding rings. Anna’s original engagement ring was a simple, cushion cut, pale blue topaz bezel set in 9ct yellow gold.
Anna and I began the design process by working through ideas for a ring that sat flush with her wedding band, continuing the pale blue theme of the original by incorporating pale sapphires. Gary became more involved in the process once the initial designs were decided upon as he was keen to surprise Anna with an early completion of the rings. They are both very happy with the result and it was a lovely way to work.
The design specs were: pale blue; simple; low profile; symmetrical; sitting flush with and matching her wedding band; and practical for everyday wear as a GP and mother of 3 lovely lower-primary kids.
During our discussions we realised that Anna wears her silver jewellery more than her gold due to a colour preference, so we decided that a white metal would be most appropriate for this design. Anna liked the idea of 3 rings, one each for her children. We lined two of the rings with her existing wedding band and she choose a lovely pale sapphire for the other.
